Hive of Gorgons Spear Build – New World Season 9

The Hive of Gorgons Spear Build, also known as the 10% Spear Build, is a highly effective setup designed for maximizing damage output in New World’s Hive of Gorgons raid. Centered around a custom crafted Gorgon’s Spear with Enfeebling Skewer and supporting perks, this build focuses on stacking Rend and Weaken debuffs to amplify team damage while maintaining high survivability and DPS. With tight ability rotations and optimized gear perks, this build ensures high DPS for a vital raid team role. Armor 

Prioritize armor perks in the following order:

• Enchanted Ward
• Refreshing 4x
• Weapon Perks
  • Fortifying Perforate

Jewelry

Pick the best Protection amulet that matches the most common damage you will be taking in the activity you are in. For example, Echidna from Hive of Gorgons uses Strike Damage, so you’d want a Strike Protection Amulet.

Ring options are usually Elemental Band, Azoth Crystal Ring, or an equal Gorgon ring.

It’s important for the Earring to be Dexterity in this build to hit the 300 Dexterity attribute split.

Typical Buffs and Trophies

In order to do maximum damage, the correct trophies and damage boosting buffs should be applied. The example below is for the Hive of Gorgon’s Raid, where you should ideally have 5 buffs above your health bar, and Major trophies at each of your 3 houses matching the enemy type.

• 3x Major Angry Earth Trophies – 3×5%(15%) Angry Earth Damage
• Infused Angry Earth Coating – 15% Angry Earth Damage
• Infused Angry Earth Ward – take 10% less damage from Angry Earth enemies
• Powerful Honing Stone – 7% Empower
• Desert Sunrise – reduce duration of incoming DoTs by 17.5% 
• +48 food Fried Albenaja

How to Play

1. cycle offhand abilities
   • Incinerate only for Weaken (unless you cannot be in melee range)
2. Skewer

Dodging before the next ability allows you to reduce ability cooldowns by 20%, and the second light attack reducing cooldowns by 10%. These plus 4x refreshing will help cooldowns fully refresh very quickly so you can keep maximum Rend and Weaken applied. Try interrupting the dodge with each ability so you still get the cooldown without moving yourself too far away from whatever you are attacking.

Mortal Power and Empowering Toast are fairly infrequent (-22%), but when you factor in team bonuses like Leadership and Oblivion from your teammates (+25%), you will be at Empower Cap without them.

Tips to remember

There should only be 1 mainhand Spear in a raid group since the 10% Rend cannot stack with one another. If there is another Spear on the team, make sure they are using the 5% build (normally for an offhand) because that will stack. Check out this guide for an offhand 5% Spear build.

The offhand weapon should be rarely used in this build unless it is applying a debuff like with Incinerate. It’s only there to increase the damage your mainhand does via its artifact passive.
