Aconite Build – New World Season 9
Using Aconite as a mainhand weapon is not a meta build, but can still pump out serious damage due to its inherent damage bonus. This New World Aconite Build for Season 9 is great for Invasions, Broodmother Medusa in the Hive of Gorgons raid, and has potential for ranged PvP as well. In this guide, I will provide the complete build details as well as How To Play it in PvE content in New World
Mainhand Weapon
Aconite with Penetrating Rapid Shot, since you cannot but a gem slot in it
Offhand Weapon (options)
Hoplite Void Gauntlet with Nullifying Oblivion
Spear – for close-range crowd control so you can create some distance
Rapier – for close-range burst damage and creating distance

Armor
Prioritize armor perks in the following order:
- Enchanted Ward
- Refreshing 4x
- Weapon Perks
- Vital Synergy and Empowering Breaker
Jewelry
Pick the best Protection amulet that matches the most common damage you will be taking in the activity you are in. For example, Echidna from Hive of Gorgons uses Strike Damage, so you’d want a Strike Protection Amulet.
Perks to aim for in an amulet:

Ring options are usually Elemental Band, Azoth Crystal Ring, or an equal Gorgon ring.

It’s important for the Earring to be Dexterity in this build to hit the correct attribute splits.

Typical Buffs and Trophies
In order to do maximum damage, the correct trophies and damage boosting buffs should be applied. The example below is for the Hive of Gorgon’s Raid, where you should ideally have 5 buffs above your health bar, and Major trophies at each of your 3 houses matching the enemy type.
- 3x Major Angry Earth Trophies – 3×5%(15%) Angry Earth Damage
- Infused Angry Earth Coating – 15% Angry Earth Damage
- Infused Angry Earth Ward – take 10% less damage from Angry Earth enemies
- Powerful Honing Stone – 7% Empower
- Desert Sunrise – reduce duration of incoming DoTs by 25%
- +48 food Fried Albenaja
How to Play
- Drink any potion for Empowering Toast
- Drop Oblivion from Void Gauntlet
- (Optional) Essence Rupture from Void Gauntlet for x1 Elemental Affinity
- Poison Shot
- Rain of Arrows
- Rapid Shot
- Light attack or poison shot between each Rapid Shot
When bosses are under 50% health you should be spamming Rapid Shot, and firing Poison Shot when it’s up. Save Rain of Arrows for larger clumps since it does great AoE damage and bleed.
This rotation emphasizes all the potential Empower stacking you can utilize, to preserve precious Empower time with Aconite equipped, step #3 is optional.

Tips to remember
When using Rapid Shot, make a considerable effort to land all 3 shots on the same target to get the cooldown bonus, since this ability is where most of a Bow’s DPS comes from.
