Crescent’s Wave PvE Build – New World Season 9
This Crescent’s Wave Build for New World Season 9 is an off-meta PvE build, built to the strengths of the Crescent’s Wave artifact and how to maximize its benefit. Without properly times mana potions in the attack cycle, it’s primary benefit of the heavy attack projectile happens less frequently in drawn out fights. Even though the weapon uses Ranged Projectiles, it is still best to stay in melee range so you are doing damage with both the projectile and the heavy attack.
Mainhand Weapon

Crescent’s Wave with Gem Slot for Runeglass of Empowered Diamond

Offhand Weapon (options)

Spear – 5% Rend and Weaken
Hatchet – Rend and Weaken
Bow – for DoTs

Attributes
Strength | 300 |
Dexterity | 350 |
Intelligence | 25 |
Focus | 25 |
Constitution | fill the rest |
Attributes are fairly flexible with this build depending on how you like to play it, but even though the build focuses on using Heavy Attacks which cost mana, using abilities can help give a bit more time to regenerate mana.
If you prefer a 350 Strength and 300 Dexterity split instead, consider Hatchet for your offhand weapon instead.
Armor
Since the Crescent’s Wave passive requires you to stay above 50% health, passive lifesteal through various perks besides just having Leeching on your ring will make that requirement very easy to maintain, without having to rely on your healer. Siphoning Runeglass is not mandatory, but it can help you get up to 4 mana back every 2s in the attack cycle. Prioritize armor perks in the following order:
- Enchanted Ward
- Refreshing 4x
- Slowing Rupture
- Vital Synergy
- Mortal Power
- Mortal Lifesteal
- Annointed Lifesteal

Jewelry
Pick the best Protection amulet that matches the most common damage you will be taking in the activity you are in. For example, Echidna from Hive of Gorgons uses Strike Damage, so you’d want a Strike Protection Amulet.

Perks to aim for in an amulet:
Health
Protection
Empowered
Ring options are usually Elemental Band, Azoth Crystal Ring, or an equal Gorgon ring.

Perks to aim for in a ring:
Hearty
Keen Awareness
Leeching

Perks to aim for in an earring:
Nimble
Refreshing Toast
Empowering Toast
It’s important for the Earring to be Dexterity in this build to hit the correct attribute splits.
Heartrune
Brutal Heartrune of Grasping Vines
Typical Buffs and Trophies
In order to do maximum damage, the correct trophies and damage boosting buffs should be applied. The example below is for the Hive of Gorgon’s Raid, where you should ideally have 5 buffs above your health bar, and Major trophies at each of your 3 houses matching the enemy type.
- 3x Major Angry Earth Trophies – 3×5%(15%) Angry Earth Damage
- Infused Angry Earth Coating – 15% Angry Earth Damage
- Infused Angry Earth Ward – take 10% less damage from Angry Earth enemies
- Powerful Honing Stone – 7% Empower
- Desert Sunrise – reduce duration of incoming DoTs by 17.5%
- +48 food
How to Play
- Cycle offhand abilities
- Roaring Rupture
- Relentless Rush – to start Onslaught Stance and Empower
- Skyward Slash – to apply 2 stacks of 5% rend
- 4-5 Heavy Attacks
- drink mana potion
- from here you should ideally repeat the cycle to maximize DPS and Rend Debuffs from your offhand weapon
If you are out of Mana, and Mana Potion cooldown is still far enough away, switch to offhand to do DPS until mana is recovered or. Spear makes the perfect pair since it scales with Dexterity and Strength similarly to the attribute split I have above.

Tips to remember
The Ranged Projectile damage does not completely replace the Heavy Attack swing – meaning that both do damage, which is why it is most optimal to stay in melee range.
Potion management is key, which is why we utilize all possible Earring potion perks. If only we still had mana regen perks on earrings..
Siphoning Runeglass on armor can bring back 4 mana every 2s with attacks, so it will help some in getting you mana back, and is a better option than Sighted or Punishing runeglass since the heavy attack is split between melee and ranged.
