Invasion Fire Staff Build – New World Season 9
The Invasion Fire Staff Build for New World Season 9 has the potential to net you the highest possible scores in an invasion if played correctly, and in the back lane. It’s AoE damage on large groups of enemies is where it shines, and in combination with an Ice Gauntlet for crowd control and assists on the other spawns, it’s the perfect Mage build for both damage and utility in Invasions. For help with understand Invasions better, check out the New World Invasion Guide.

Attributes
Strength | 25 |
Dexterity | 150 |
Intelligence | 500 |
Focus | 25 |
Constitution | fill the rest |
Armor
Prioritize armor perks in the following order:
- Enchanted Ward
- Refreshing 4x
- Weapon Perks
- Empowering Breaker and Mortal Refreshment

Since this build is more focused on using your abilities, the damage bonus from hitting all the attribute splits becomes more valuable than some of the other artifact options.
Jewelry
Amulets in Invasions are extremely dependent to what you get hit by. As a ranged player you will commonly get hit by snipers, but the biggest threat is a Commander’s charge, so a Thrust Protection Amulet like Tanglevine Amulet will likely give some of the best results.
Ring options are usually Elemental Band, Azoth Crystal Ring, or an equal Gorgon ring.

Perks to aim for in a ring:
Hearty
Keen Awareness
Leeching

Perks to aim for in an earring:
Nimble
Refreshing Toast
Empowering Toast
Heartrune
Brutal Heartrune of Cannon Blast
Typical Buffs and Trophies
In order to do maximum damage against Corrupted in an Invasion, the correct trophies and damage boosting buffs should be applied. You should be able to count 3 buffs above your health bar. Wards and Desert Sunrise are typically not needed for Invasions, unless AGS makes Mutated Invasions or Invasion difficulties.
- 3x Major Corrupted Trophies – 3×5%(15%) Corrupted damage
- Infused Corrupted Coating – 15% Corrupted Damage
- Powerful Honing Stone – 7% Empower
- +48 food
How to Play
Use Ice Storm 1s before the next wave spawns, on the center of one of the spawn zones.
Use Meteor Shower on the other spawn point. In front gates this is the same spot.
Rotate Fireball and Pillar of Fire over enemy clumps.
Turn around and drop Ice Pylon.
If enemies are still getting through run to the stairs (back lane only) and drop Ice Shower at the bottom of the stairs.
Empower details
Mortal Power | 12% |
Empowering Meteor Shower x10 | 21.4% |
Clear Mind | 5% |
Clear Casting | 5% |
Runes of Helios | 20% |
Elemental Affinity x1 | 4% |
Empowering Toast | 10% |
Powerful Honing Stone | 7% |
Total | 84.4% |
While the Empower cap is 50%, many of these have cooldowns or conditions to hit, so the variation should mean you are at empower cap most of the time. The excessive Empower also means its unnecessary to use Fire Runeglass, or Fire Harnessing perks. To know where your current Empower total stands, check out the Empower Calculator.
Tips to remember
There should ideally be a mage at each gate, but back gate has more spawns which leads to higher damage/assists giving you a higher score.
Ideally you should join a few Invasions to learn how they play out, and take notice of exactly where the spawns happen.
The shot callers will help you identify when a wave will spawn at the closer location at a gate instead so make sure you listen for that.
